Inner Goddess

Today, I just wanted to make a card for a sweet friend I met last month.  Have you ever meant someone and just knew from the beginning that the person was special?  Maybe you're not quite sure why or what role they are to play in your life, but for some reason, you know this person was meant to be a part of your life?  I met a friend at our 31 National Conference this year.  She is just so sweet and genuine.  I love her to pieces.  :)  Since she lives in Florida and I in Indiana, it's not likely we will see each other again until next summer's conference, but it's okay!  We can be long distance friends - especially in today's day and age with all the social media outlets!  Here is what I came up with for my dear friend:
The turquoise pattern paper is from Recollections - My Favorite Things stack.  the hello paper is from DCWV's The Home Spun Matstack.  The flowers and pearls are also Recollections.  The lace, I just had lying around here.  I"m sure I picked it up at Hobby Lobby earlier this summer!  Oh and the little birdy is on an ACTION WOBBLE!  These things make everything more fun!

Here is the inside (the sentiment is from Pink by Design's "Fifty Shades" sentiment set):

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you like my little card!  Happy Crafting!

Have a TWEET Day!

What a fun sentiment!  Birds are all the rave right now!  I'm not sure why, but I've totally fallen for all the cute things we can do with birds too!

Pink by Design also has a challenge up right now to create something with birds.  You can find the challenge here.  So come play along with us!

Here is a card a made (well, actually, I made a couple of them) for my Mom's birthday.  I also had a friend with a birthday around the same time, so she received a similar card!  Here is my card:
The sentiment "Have a Tweet Day" is from the Pink by Design set called "Take the Cake".  You can find it here!  The paper is from DCWV's "The Chateau Lavender Stack."  Aren't the colors so soft and pretty?

I hope you've enjoyed my blog today!  Happy Crafting!

Masculine Cards

Why are masculine cards so hard for me?  Or maybe why is it that the MEN in my life don't like pink, purple, glitter and bling?  Hmmm, if they did, it would make creating for them A LOT easier!  Ha!

My husband and I celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary this week!  :)  I've made him a MASCULINE card.  At least, I hope it is masculine.  I have trouble with the "cheesy" cards - even when buying from the store (which I NEVER do anymore).  I just can't do cheesy with my "meaningful" cards.  I can do fun & cheesy with cards for friends and brothers, etc - but not so much for parents, grandparents and the husband.  If I could do cheesy - it might make it a little easier.  Then I could use tools and puns and food, etc.  Oh well, I'll save that stuff for my layouts and well friends and nephews!  The nephews especially, love the cheesy!

Anyway, here's what I came up:
The paper is from the Recollections Everyday Moments stack.  The bling is from imaginisce.  The sentiment is from Pink by Design "Rain or Shine" set.  I also stamped the inside with a Pink by Design sentiment from the "Small Things" set.  It says "You are my reason why".  Sorry, I didn't take a picture of the inside!

Thanks for letting me share with you!  Let me know what you think!

Happy Crafting!

Amazing & Bright

Oh gosh, it's been awhile!  Life became a little hectic!  I spent a week in July in Atlanta at our Thirty-One Gifts National Conference which was amazing!  I think I spend the entire month of August catching up from being away that one week!  EEK!  Here are a couple of cards I made today just for fun!  I plan on using them to CER (celebrate, encourage & reward) my 31 team!  I hope you like them!  I'm pretty pleased with the final results!

Thanks for stopping by!  Leave me some bloggie love!

Laters Baby

TeeHee....I giggled the whole time I made this 4x4 card for my friend who all 3 fifty books last week!  I used Pink by Design Laters Baby set and the everyday banners!  No real reason for this card other than it is fun and my friend will get a kick out of it!  I hope you like it!  Now hope on over to Pink Cricut's blog and check out her Link Up Party!
I thought the twine - also from PBD - was appropriate!

Whisking You A....

My grandma's birthday is coming up, and my family and I are lucky enough to be able to spend it with her this year!  We will be traveling to Arkansas in early September to go to an airshow with her and her husband.  It coincidentally falls on her birthday this year!  YaY!!!  I made a little card to take to her (along with some incredible chocolates from a local candy store and a bottle of wine from a local winery)!  Here is her card (which just happens to meet the Ink it with Pink criteria this week too) -

All stamps are from Pink by Design - the Whisk and measuring spoons are from What's Shaking.  The recipe card is Recipe Front.  The sentiments are both from Kitchen Puns.  The silver ink is kind of hard to read but the sentiment says, "Whisking you a Happy Birthday"!  Cute, huh?!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Hop on over to the Pink by Design blog to see all the other projects this week - you'll notice, they all have a tag!  ;)

Sky is the Limit

Today I'm playing in the Pink by Design Ink It Pink challenge!  You can play along too!  Just click here to play along!  This week, the challenge was to incorporate ribbon into your project!  In about 2 weeks, I will be headed to Atlanta to attend the Thirty-One Gifts National Conference!  I'm excited to go for a lot for of reasons - great training, new products & spending quality time with my director and team!  I'm a little sad too though as several of my team is unable to attend.  I've made a little card using part of our National Conference logo for my team members not going.  Here it is:
The hot air balloon is part of the logo.  I added a little kraft background - some have plain kraft paper and some have a printed kraft background.
I used some stickles to give the balloon and basket a little sparkle.  I used the Pink by Design Just Breathe sentiment set for the "Dream until your Dream Comes True" sentiment.  I love this set - and this sentiment in particular so so much!  Who doesn't love Aerosmith?!?!?  Right?

Here are the backs of the cards:
I've left space between the two stamps to write a personalized note to each of my team members not able to attend conference.
Subway Art from Pink by Design is another of my favorite sets!  Both of the sentiments on the back of my cards from the Subway Art set.  I have left plenty of room in between the two sets of to write a little personalized and motivational (hopefully) note to the ladies on my team not able to attend NC.  I will mail them out the day I leave for Atlanta so they'll know I'm thinking about them and taking good notes to bring back and share with them.  I also hope it will help to encourage them to start thinking about next summer's conference!  I hope to have a full team there next year!  How fun - it really is a HUGE SLUMBER PARTY!

The ribbon of course is from Thirty-One Gifts.  I have wrapped it around each card to add a little "gifty" presence to the card - after all - while at conference, all attendees will be showered with gifts!  For more information on Thirty-One Gifts and joining my team, click here, or contact me!  Thanks for playing with Pink by Design in the Ink it Pink Challenge!

All Star Dad

Happy Sunday!  It's been a relaxing weekend here in Indiana - hot & dry - but relaxing!  Today I have a card for you that I made for my dad's birthday.  I must first tell you the idea came from Cyndi the Cricut Fanatics blog - I believe her daughter came up with the idea.  When I first saw it, I knew I had to recreate it!  As a kid growing up - even as a young adult - I always remember my dad wearing, well.....these:

Converse - Chuck Taylor's!!!

The tiny star come from Pink by Design's Independence Day stamp set.  The Happy Birthday is also from Pink by Design - Big Thoughts sentiment set.  I love this card and am happy to say - my dad did too!  My little brother - who happens to share my dad's birthday - was pretty impressed especially with the laces, and well, even my mom was in on the compliments on this one!  So Cyndi's daughter - thanks for the GREAT idea!  I love it!

My Why

Ink it Pink challenge this week called for sparkle....I hope I have provided that for you with this project!  What, you've not heard of the Ink it Pink challenge?  Well you can find more information here.   Some of you may already know, I am an Independent Consultant with Thirty-One Gifts.  Anyone who's  been involved with direct sales or running their own small business, knows it is important to know WHY you're doing what you do.....my project today is a little self reminder of that!  I hope you like it.

This is the lid of my why box.  This key represents the 31 company.  This charm specifically is our "encourage" charm.

I have decorated my Why box with "motivational" and "dream" sentiments all from Pink by Design.  The papers are from a special 31 stack that includes some our fabric patterns for our products.  They gray and white chevron paper is the only one not from the 31 stack.  It is just a single sheet I picked up at Archivers.  The sentiments came from Pink by Design sentiment sets: Believe in Yourself, Just Breathe, Rise Above it All and Shopaholic.

My Why box will be filled with items that remind me of WHY I continue to do this job.  I will also use this when telling my story to customers and potential new consultants!  Here are some items you might find if you were to reach into my box:

a vile of sand - representing debt free vacations
a picture of my director and me - we live several states apart - yet have become fast friends - this picture represents all the friendships I've been able to make with people I've met through 31
a picture of a retro metro bag - which is one of my favorite items
a few crafting supplies - as this is my #1 hobby 31 supports for me
a picture of my husband and I - representing the extra time we are now able to spend together
ALOHA - a crafty ALOHA - a savings account created to help us get back to Hawaii!

So you get the point!  I hope you like my WHY!  If you'd like more information on Thirty-One Gifts products or our business opportunity click here or email me asking for more information!  I love to share!

Happy Crafting everyone - I'm off to bed so I can get some sleep.  I think my husband and I are off to an airshow over Lake Michigan in the morning!

Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays

Tomorrow is my little brother's 29th birthday!  Of course, I had to make him a cute card - because at 29 - especially when you're male - you want nothing more than a cute little card made by your big sister!  ;)

For this card, I used a cream card and put added a piece of kraft cardstock to it.  I embossed the cardstock with the Happy Birthday embossing folder by Provocraft and used my Cuttlebug.  Then, I just took a navy blue ink pad and gently rubbed it over the embossing.  The green and blue papers are from DCWV - scraps from the Surf's Up stack.  I hand cut the banners and used the Pink by Design Take the Cake sentiment set for all the sentiments.  I used the Smash stamp to stamp the July 05.  That's all I have for you today!  I hope you like my card.  My lil bro did - I think he liked the chocolate, gummi bears & gold stuff better though!  Sheesh - boys!  :)  Happy Crafting!

40 years!!!

This is a busy week for my family - of course we have Independence Day - but we also have two birthdays and an anniversary!  My parents will be celebrating their 40th anniversary one week from today.  I am so blessed to come from a great family.  It is with great pride that I share my parents' anniversary.  They've been such good examples to my brothers and me.  In today's society, divorce is so common and well - easy - or so it appears.  I've not yet been married for 3 years.  We will celebrate the big 3 later this summer.  My husband and I talked in depth about divorce and making this something that will last through thick and thin before we tied the knot.  It's very important to both us, and I find it very encouraging to see my parents still going strong after 40 years.  They are a true inspiration!  Anyway, here's my card for them:
simple & cute - I like it like that!  The blue/greens match better in real life!  The crinkle ribbon I picked up at Pink by Design.  The paper is from Martha Stewart - Elegant paper pad.  The flower and pearls are recollections.
The dove, heart, glasses and sentiment are all cut from Sweethearts cricut cartridge.

That's all for today!  I hope you like my simple card!  I hope my parents do too!  :)  Thanks for stopping by!  I think it is safe to say, I'll have some birthday cards to share soon!  Happy Crafting!

Thank You

Hello fellow bloggers and Happy almost WEEKEND!  I celebrated my 5 year anniversary with the company I work for this week.  My boss caught me off guard with a skinny cow chocolate bar (well actually 5 - one for each year) and a gift card to Michaels!  :)  I needed a quick Thank You card for her so here is what I made:

The papers are all from my scrap stock.  I cut the tag with the Pink by Design artisan tag die.  I stamped it with the artisan stamp from the Pink by Design Artisan stamp set.  Isn't it cute???  I just hand wrote the "Thank You!" I also wrote a little note on the inside (I told her she was speaking to my soul by showering me with skinny cow chocolates and crafting supplies!).  I added a couple of little flower brads and some stickles to add a little glittery splash.  Very simple and cute!  I hope you like it too!

Happy Crafting!

Follow Your Own Star

I made a little card today for the ink pink challenge - using Red, White & Blue - you can link up here!  I used the paper studio's Vintage Nation stack and the "follow your own star" sentiment from Pink by Design's Small Things set.  I hope you like my little card.  I made a few of them to send out some encouraging words to a few friends!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!

ABSOLUTELY!

Today I just have another quick post containing a picture from our honeymoon.  This was our last planned night in Hawaii so we thought it would be fun to take a romantic dinner cruise out in the Pacific.  We had a great time.  The food was yummy, champagne - refreshing and the hula dancers so FUN!  Again I used DCWV's snapshot stack.  I absolutely love this stack and have definitely gotten my money's worth out of it.  The chevrons were cut on my Cameo out of some fun scrap paper I had laying around.  I am LOVING chevrons this summer!  And I LOVE how this layout turned out.  I hope you  love it too!

Let me know what you think!  Then, go post your project on Pink Cricut's Link Up Party!

You Are Amazing!

I have another Manly card for you today!  At least, I hope it is manly!  I'm playing with the Pink by Design Ink it Pink challenge again this week!  The goal was to create a masculine project.  I wanted to do this to challenge myself as I always find it hard to make masculine cards and layouts - yet the majority of my family is male!  I am the only girl of three children, have a bonus SON (no daughters) and 3 nephews (no nieces) so you'd think I'd be a pro at creating MANLY designs.  I'm not!  I prefer the pink, orange, flowery, glittery, girly pages and layouts best!  Sorry boys!  At any rate, I made this card for my dad.  I've already made a Father's Day Card for him so I might just save this one for a random day and mail it to him.  :)  So here it is....let me know if it's MANLY enough....would you give it to your Dad?!?

For this card, I used mostly scraps - a few came from the DCWV Tattered Time stack.  I used the provocraft Fleur-de-lis embossing folder in my cuttlebug to create the textured paper.  I used the Pink by Design Script 1 background stamp on the card base and the DAD you are amazing sentiment came from the Pink by Design Our Father's set.  For the banners, I just cut different widths and lengths of paper and then just used scissors to create the banner shape - that's why they're not so symmetric!  The burlap came from Hobby Lobby.

I kinda like how it turned it out!  How about you?

Happy Crafting!

My Hero, My Dad

Father's Day, already!  Can you believe??!?  When I was kid growing up and living under my parent's roof, I would wash my dad's truck every year on Father's Day and then again a few weeks later on his birthday.  I don't do that so much anymore, but I did make this cute card!  I saw a similar card and sketch on the DCWV blog last week so I lifted it.  :)  I used the DCWV Tattered Time stack for all the papers except the kraft circle in the middle of the ribbon.  Both sentiments are from Pink by Design's Our Father's set.  The twine - well it came from a hardware store!  Ha!

I hope you like what you see!  Leave me some blog love if you do!  :)  Happy Father's Day to all the amazing father's out there - including my dad of course, and husband and brother!  Grandpa - I wish you were here to share it with us!  Miss you everyday!  Love to you all!

Happy Crafting!

JELLYFISH

Who's not afraid of jellyfish?  Well, Scott definitely is!  When he saw the sign in the layout below, he swore off the water - and almost the beach as a whole!  No way, Mr.!  We're in Hawaii - we will be on the beach....and in the water!  Just maybe not this beach!  Scott and I both like to just explore and see what is around us.  We spent a lot of our week in Hawaii just walking along the shoreline (and boardwalks) from beach to beach and shop to shop.  We saw a lot of things I don't think we would have otherwise.  Our hotel was on Waikiki Beach, but we liked to walk down a ways and not be in the middle of all the commotion.  There were so many beautiful beaches, all you had to do was walk a little until you found the place you liked best in that moment.  We did this daily!  The pictures in this layout are from a couple of different beaches.
Chevrons are HOT right now...and well, I LOVE them!  I spent an afternoon this week just cutting out chevrons.  I used an LSS svg file and my cameo.  I pulled out a bunch of scrap paper and just started cutting.  I wanted to have plenty on hand - and in several different colors - so I could grab them and go to work when I wanted to use them.  :)  I hope you like!
Happy Crafting!

Destination Paradise

Ah yes, more honeymoon layouts on the way!  This picture is from our last evening in Hawaii - we went on a dinner cruise out in the Pacific Ocean.  We thought it would be fun to spend the last night of our honeymoon on a romantic cruise with luau dancers and all.....  We had a blast!  The sights were gorgeous and the dinner and wine - delicious!  There really is nowhere like the ocean...
The chevron paper is just a loose piece I picked up at Archivers.  All the other papers/tags are from DCWV Surf's Up - I am soooo in love with this stack!  If you've followed my blog much lately or just looked around at a few recent postings, you'll realize it's obvious!  The journaling is a quick reminder of our last night - not really being our last night - in Hawaii.  Our flight took off late the following afternoon - we made it about half was across the Pacific Ocean and had to return to Hawaii due to mechanical issues with our plane - we apparently weren't close enough to the West Coast to continue forward according to FCC policy.  Anyway, we ended up spending the night at a nice hotel in Hawaii and enjoying another morning/afternoon in Hawaii.  :)  I hope you like my 8.5"x8.5" layout!

Happy Crafting!

Sun Surf Sand

Hey look over there to the left - see it?  Ink it Pink sponsored by Pink by Design......the fun people at Pink by Design are hosting a challenge right now!  The challenge is to create your own patterned paper (or background) using sentiments or words.....I thought it sounded fun so I decided to give it a shot.  Here is what I came up with....

The sunglasses were cut from an LSS - SVG file on my cameo.  Aren't they cool?  I used DCWV shimmer stack for the lenses - the rest of the paper is scraps...sorry no details left in this feeble mind for those.  :(  The "sun surf sand" is three different sentiment stamps from the PbD Sandy Toes set.  The "There's nowhere else....." sentiment is also from the PbD Sandy Toes set.  The little stamped sunglasses at the bottom are from the Pink by Design Artisan Set.  The shape the sentiment is stamped on was traced from a stencil I had laying around and just cut out the old fashioned way - with scissors!  Of course the bling is from imaginisce I-rock!  If you like what you see - I'd love to hear about it!

If you'd like to see similar projects - hop on over to the-Pink by Design Stamps blog and see what everyone else has been up to as well!  Get some great inspiration!

I must now go get ready to watch the big CELTICS game so.....have a nice evening and Happy Crafting!

Best Tweets

Hi Friends!  This week, I've been working on using up some scrap paper.  Of course, one of the quickest ways to do this is to make some coordinating (or not so coordinating) card sets.  I decided to a make a few sets using some PBD twine, ribbon and the artisan die from Pink by Design as well as their Artisan Sentiment Stamp set along with the Pink by Design Big Thoughts sentiment set.  I have a couple of friends with birthdays this summer so I thought I'd combine the card sets with a little Thirty-One Gifts action.  Most of you know, I am an independent consultant with 31 gifts.  If you like what you see, you can shop my site at www.mythirtyone.com/LNewman31 - or email me at whitloli@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like a full summer catalog!  :)  Here's a few pics....

I love the bff card and the Happy Birthday Cake - it's just the right size to add a little flare to the card!  Sorry about the magnets laying on the cards, but I needed them to lay flatter to take a picture!

This is the All-In-One organizer in Best Tweets from 31 gifts.  I am so in love with this print!  I thought I'd add a little address book and bundle a few of the cards up with twine (there are 25 cards total - so plenty for a few sets!) and give it all as a little gift!

I hope you like the set I've created!  I had fun making all the cards!

The Perfect Day

Hello ladies!  Yes, I have more honeymoon layouts this week!  I know, enough already!  I'm so in love with DCWV stacks (Surf's Up &Snapshot), and they are sooo perfect for our Hawaiian Honeymoon.  Inspiration has struck, so I MUST get this done!  It's almost been three years already (time flies)!  You will also find several PBD sentiments too (check out Pink Cricut's website (http://pinkcricut.com/) and link up your blog - or just see some great projects with tons of inspiration!

Take a look see......
These pictures are from the Tree House Cafe in Waikiki - We had just landed, drop our bags off, checked out our balcony view and headed for food!  8 hours on a plane is loooong time!  We were hungry and just wanted to STAND TALL for a while!  The Aloha....stamp is from Pink By Design Aloha Sentiment Stamp - I LOVE this set!  And of course, it works great with our pictures!

Now that our bellies are full, it's time to spend some time on the BEACH!!!   The sky was gorgeous, the water warm and well, my camera lens got wet!  :)  See the gorgeous lei's we were given on the beach.....so pretty!
So again as in all of the pictures, I used the DCWV Surf's Up and Snapshot Stacks.  The Aloha is from Pink By Design (http://www.pinkbydesignstore.com/cart.html) Aloha sentiment set.  This really was one of the BEST DAYS EVER!  We decided to go on a guided tour of O'ahu.  You can't tell from this picture, but we are standing on the beach where the TV show LOST was filmed.  Absolutely gorgeous....we went all over the place - coffee plantations, Dole Plantation the North Shore and Sunset Beach (known for BIG WAVE SURFING), and on and on and on....it was AMAZING!  We had sooo much fun!  Our driver's and tour guide's name was Rongo - he is native to Hawaii.  He referred to himself as WRONGWAY RONGO - we giggled.  We will always remember our tour and him - he made it fun and was so informative about the Island and it's history as well as the native culture!

We decided to go out and explore one day on our own - this is Monday 9.14.12 - we've entered day 2 of wedded bliss and are just enjoying the Pacific!  The sentiment is from Pink By Design - Sandy Toes set - another perfect set for our beach pictures!
This photo of course has our LEI's again with our wedding rings laying in them as well as another pic from our tour and our first night on the beach.  The Forever sentiment stamp is from Pink By Design Definitely Definitions set.

Here are just a few more pics from our trip - including a more recognizable photo from the beach on which LOST was filmed....I hope you enjoy!
This is a tree with AMAZING color bark at Dole Plantation.

We are coming upon Dole Plantation - yummy pineapple ice cream inside that building!

Gorgeous View!

LUAU Layouts!

As some of you  know, I've finally been scrapping our honeymoon pictures.  I've been able to make a bit more progress as of late!  Here are a couple of pictures:

We attended Germaine's LUAU on the beach - and it was AMAZING!  This guy was our "guide" and he's holding the remains of our dinner (which was DELISH)!  I used DCWV's Surf's Up stack!

More photos from the LUAU - also using more of DCWV's Surf's Up Stack!  This is one of my most favorite stacks I've seen in a LONG time!
We also took a tour of the Island - we were on O'ahu.  These pics are of my husband, Scott.  In the first, we are on Ford's Island - we spent half a day checking out all the Pearl Harbor attractions - which I will show of more later!  The second picture, we are on some cliffs on the North Shore.  Scott is walking on lava rock.  This isn't in the picture, but if Scott were to be looking up, he's be looking at a house the Elvis once owned.  It was WAY UP HIGH on a cliff...and Totally Cool!
I again used DCWV's Surf's Up Stack (it is a perfect match for our honeymoon pics) and DCWV's Snapshot Stack - another incredible stack out this spring/summer!  LOVE IT!  The sentiment is from Pink By Design - Sandy Toes - also a great sentiment set for our honeymoon pictures!
I hope you love my layouts!  If you like what you see, send me some bloggy love and share with your friends too!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Crafting!
